2005 Chateau Bellefont-Belcier – Bottle Notes

Chateau Bellefont Belcier dates back to the seventeenth century as an estate. The vineyard was officially founded in the middle of the eighteenth century by Count Louis Francois de Belcier. In 2012 Chateau Bellefont Belcier was sold to a group of Chinese investors. That sale marked the first purchase of a Bordeaux classified growth by a Chinese citizen. Chateau Bellefont Belcier was next purchased by the Wang Songwei family from China. The Chateau is situated in St. Emilion.

Crimson in color. 14.5% ABV. 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Fantastic nose of black fruits, graphite, leather and tobacco. Rich, plush and concentrated. Tremendous structure. Black cherry, licorice, currants and cassis on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. Fantastic Bordeaux that is shining at 15 years of age. Another winner from St. Emilion in 2005. Best over the next 3-5 years.

My rating: 93 points.

Look for this wine from the acclaimed 2016 vintage. Anything around $55 should be considered a fair price.
