Bottle Notes, Pinot Noir

2015 Toil Oregon Pinot Noir – Bottle Notes

Toil Oregon was founded in 2012 by Chris Figgins. Chris is the President and Winemaking Director for Figgins Family Wine Estates. At present time this includes Leonetti, Figgins and Toil Oregon. Figgins Family Wine Estates has acquired a 42-acre parcel of extraordinary land in the Chehalem Mountains AVA of Willamette Valley. This will become the Estate Vineyard and future winery home of Toil Oregon.

Ruby red in color. 13.9% ABV. Exotic nose of dark fruits, earth, iron and citrus. Medium body with medium acidity. Rich and earthy with bright fruits emerging with some time in the glass. Black cherry, blood orange, spice and soil on the palate. Excellent length on the finish. Delicious Pinot Noir that clearly shows the progress that Chris Figgins is making with this variety. I can’t wait to taste future vintages when the estate fruit comes on line. Best over the next 3-4 years.

My rating: 91 points.

The mailing list at Toil Oregon is still open and the 2018 Pinot Noir will be released early next year. Chris Figgins is still honing his craft as it pertains to Oregon Pinot Noir and I look forward to following this project in the years to come.
