Zinfandel of the Month – 2015 Klinker Brick Winery Old Vine Zinfandel

Zinfandel of the Month is a regular feature on Zinfandel Chronicles. Keep in mind that although the Zinfandel of the Month might be an older bottle, the current vintage will be one you can find at retail or via the mailing list.

The May Zinfandel of the Month is the 2015 Klinker Brick Winery Old Vine Zinfandel.

Steve and Lori Felten represent the fifth generation of their family to grow grapes in Lodi.  They started Klinker Brick Winery and produced their first vintage of old vine Zinfandel in 2000. The winery name comes from the Klinker Bricks that grace many of the historical buildings in Lodi.

Sourced from old vine vineyards in the Mokelumne and Clements Hills regions of Lodi.

Dark crimson in color. 15.4% ABV. Savory nose of black fruits, pepper and earthy loam. Full bodied with juicy acidity. Plush and balanced. Blackberries, black cherries and plums on the palate. The finish is long and sweet. Not overly complex but delicious, supple and easy to drink. Hard to beat for the $17 per bottle this set me back. Best over the next year or so.

My rating: 89 points.

This wine is widely available and you should be able to find it at your local grocery store or Total Wine.
