2008 Rochioli Sauvignon Blanc – Bottle Notes

2008 Rochioli Sauvignon Blanc

Rochioli Vineyards & Winery is one of the true pioneers in Russian River Valley, with a winemaking history dating back to the the late 1950’s. Although best known for their world class Pinot Noir, Rochioli also produces remarkable Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

Sauvignon Blanc was originally planted at Rochioli in 1959. The 2008 Estate Sauvignon Blanc contains fruit from this original planting as well as fruit from portions of the vineyard planted in the last 30 years.

The wine itself is golden yellow in color. Flavors run the gamut from citrus, lemon, grass, grapefruit, tropical fruit and mineral. This is truly a benchmark for California Sauvignon Blanc and belongs in a peer group with the very best the state has to offer including Araujo, Spottwoode and Herb Lamb.
