2005 Dehlinger Estate Pinot Noir – Bottle Notes

2005 Dehlinger Pinot Noir

Dehlinger is located in the Russian  River Valley of  Sonoma County and was founded in 1975 by current owner/winemaker Tom Dehlinger. Although they are known for their Pinot Noir, Dehlinger also makes Chardonnay, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon.

I have been on the Dehlinger mailing list going on 15 years. Their Pinot Noir does not get the critical acclaim of Kosta Browne or create the buzz in wine circles of Rhys but the wines are truly second to none in quality, value and consistency.

2005 was an exceptional year for CA Pinot Noir and the 05 Dehlinger Estate certainly delivers.  Blackberries, cherry liqueur, baking spice, brown sugar and mineral. Beautiful acidity and a long finish. The wine still feels like it is coming together. I suspect it will drink even better over the next 2-3 years.

The Dehlinger mailing list is full but getting on the mailing list is a must for CA Pinot Noir consumers.
